CodePamoja (meaning “Code Together” in Kiswahili) is a training programme to give IT-graduates in Kenya the opportunity to gain work experience by participating in real software development projects with counterparts in the Netherlands. The innovation of CodePamoja is the recognition that important soft-skills such as project management can only be learned by working with more experienced mentors. Collaboration in virtual teams with members in different geographical locations provides role models that are otherwise in short supply in developing economies.
