Now that the festive season is behind us, it is time to start the new event year of 2024 with lots of energy. What could be more fun than an afternoon full of old-fashioned board games and card games with your colleagues? That was exactly the plan for the first Friday afternoon drinks of the year.

Some colleagues had brought their favorite games from home, so it was time for the fun to start. The afternoon ultimately focused on two classics: Codenames and Risk.

In Codenames, teams had to try to guess words on the cards on the table, based on cryptic clues from the game leaders. A nice way to see how everyone has a different way of thinking. In betwee, our hungry stomachs were filled with delicious pizzas.

Then it was time for a game of Risk, the legendary game of conquest. With their armies, the participants tried to take over countries, guided by their personal goal cards. An exciting battle ensued, with much mutual alliances and tempering. In the end, Nigel turned out to be the smartest strategist of the bunch.

Although it was already late in the evening when Risk ended, the team is already looking forward to the next event: National Pancake Day in March, including a Minecraft LAN party as a bonus event. What a way to start the new event year!
